Membership Meeting November 20, 2017 - Slab to Cab
November is always a busy month for Loose Bead members and this year was no exception: Annual renewals are due for 2018, the retreat is unveiled and of course, we have a presentation. On top of all that, Deb Dunn has been generously organizing door prizes for every meeting and members and guests get a ticket for the drawing as they enter the room. Dan volunteered to hand them out to members.
Geri and Maureen had samples of all thirteen of the retreat classes on display. It's surprising to see them up close and personal and members took advantage of the chance to do just that as they select classes they want to take in March.
Meanwhile, across the room, Jill Erickson, the evening's presenter and two partners from McGovern Park Senior Center had their own tables of samples to set-up and share. Barb Peterson is a participant in Jill's lapidary class for the past three years and LBS member Denise Hohenfeldt assists in the metals class at the Center. They brought along cabs and finished pieces of jewelry.
Jill Erickson gave an animated presentation which included some audience call-and-response as she took those in attendance through the cabochon making process - step-by-step using a slide presentation prepared just for the evening. After the meeting members continued browsing the samples brought by Jill and her partners.
